ã€Case Studies】
As the founder and chief designer of the firm, Thomas Dariel added his surreal footnotes to his elegant and refined tone in Paris. Freely use imagination and creativity in this blank space, and at the same time take into account the expectations of the owners: in the culturally rich Paris has a personal territory of its own.
Entrance and restaurant perspective
The intense color space guides the viewer's footsteps until the light is bright, the entrance to the living room. A carpet about six meters long will run through the entrance to the bedroom to form a complete aisle aisle.
Aisle design
It’s amazing to enter the apartment, and the viewer seems to be trapped in a deep blue space. Walls, ceilings, and dark doors are all treated in a single color, and the boundaries of all surfaces melt and interlace. On the floor of the hallway is a custom-made geometric carpet that not only supports the space structure, but also brings a soft warmth.
Celadon porch table
At the end of the corridor is a celadon-colored porch table designed by Thomas Dariel for Maison DADA. This poetic object softens the corner.
Living room design
The living room also continues the designer's distinctive style, bright and cheerful, full of lines and colors. Hermes' sofas, Se London's dining chairs, Taiping rugs and the side tables of the new Maison La Chance brand reflect the owner's and designer's preference for unique furniture. Compared to the intensely coloured living room, the kitchen has a soft side, and the pure lines accentuate the functionality and elegance of the objects used.
Living room design
Thomas specializes in adding a French-inspired sense of humor to elegant and sophisticated interiors. The oversized "Portalen Portalen" prints from artist Kay Sage are spatially tuned with a surreal perspective. The living room wall is divided horizontally into two colors and reversed on different facades.
Living room design
TV cabinet with logs and black geometric figures. The color contrast of the Lazy Susan coffee table of Maison DADA continues in the furniture.
Breaking the conventional furniture design
The gray-pink side cabinet is unconventional, with a "stool handle" on one foot; the Indian Madhavi design table lamp comes with foot pedals; the Little Eliah table lamp chandelier suspended in the air challenges the law of gravity. Thomas Dariel used these detached objects to hint at the playboy style of the 1930s.
Kitchen design
Unlike the living room, the kitchen uses a relatively low-key design. Herringbone floor tiles are classic memories of traditional Parisian homes, and the use of oak and marble self-contained high-end kitchenware emphasizes that this modern space is practical in elegance.
Bathroom design
The bathroom is the master of the entire apartment. The designer abandoned the traditional pure white marble material and switched to the wallpaper with the complicated flower pattern, which brought the intoxicating atmosphere of the rainforest to the bathroom space. From ordinary to extraordinary. This is the consistent style of Thomas Dariel and his studio: rigorous and playful, from the inside out.
