This cheap color pencil has low purity and poor light resistance, so it is not only colorless, but also after the painting is placed for a while. The color changes or fades when exposed to light. Therefore, if you are serious about drawing, I suggest choosing an artist-grade color pencil.

Type of colored pencil
The refill of a color pencil consists of a pigment powder plus wax as an adhesive, plus other additives. Color pencils can be classified into three broad categories depending on the composition of the adhesive: oily, waxy, and watery.
Ordinary people often confuse oily and waxy colored pencils, which are commonly referred to as oil-colored colored pencils; but if you want to pay attention to it, the color pencils made by these two different ingredients still have many differences in their use. Strictly speaking, there is still a little wax in the oily colored pencils, but the main ingredient is vegetable oil. The disadvantage is that it is easy to be stained, so when painting, it is best to put a tracing paper under the hand to protect the already painted part. Another disadvantage is that the price of oil-based pencils is higher.

Water-based colored pencils use a water-soluble adhesive that dissolves when exposed to water, so you can paint a watercolor effect. These colored pencils are used both wet and dry, and it is easier to paint a large area of ​​color after adding water. However, its color mixing effect is not as good as that of oil (wax) colored pencils. In addition, the use of skills requires more practice to achieve the desired results. Also, the color after dry painting and adding water may be different, so it is also necessary to take the time to familiarize yourself with the effect of adding water to each color.
However, high-quality water-based colored pencils have both oil and water-based advantages, such as Faber-Castell Albrecht Dürer and Caran d'Ache Supracolor Soft. Even when used as general dry colored pencils, there are still oily colored lead. The "creamy" brushstrokes; the color after adding water is more vivid and saturated, which is considered to be the top two series in the water-based color pencil label, but the price is also very "top".
Lightfastness and permanent
This is a very important quality indicator for professional-grade pigments such as watercolors and oil paints. Because the creators have spent their time creating works, if they fade after a period of time or change the original color, then the value of the painting is not only damaged. Creators and collectors will also be very sad. Nowadays, more and more color pencil paintings have entered the gallery exhibitions, and many collectors have collected the color pencil painters. There are currently a series of light-resistant grades in pencil pens including Faber-Castell Polychromos, Caran d'Ache Pablo, Caran d'Ache Luminance and the like. Caran d'Ache Luminance is also the color pencil series of the international highest lightfastness standard ASTM D-6901 (its name "Luminance 6901" is also derived from here).
