Selection of interpolation resolution
The so-called "interpolation resolution" refers to the resolution provided by the scanner's built-in interpolation compensation technology, which is usually much higher than the optical resolution. However, it has little effect on improving the image quality, but it increases the size of the image file several times or even tens of times, and reduces the scanning speed. Therefore, in the general use of the school, if it is not a high-quality map image printout for the geography teaching and research group, it does not make much sense to choose an interpolation resolution that is too high.
Post-processing of scanned images
Almost all scanners have four problems in varying degrees: 1. Overall contrast distortion; 2. Image color cast; 3. Texture (dot); 4. Inaccurate focal length. Although many scanners provide the hardware or software to go to the network and set filters in the driver to counteract these adverse factors as much as possible, in order to obtain the best results, post-processing of the scanned image is essential.
First use the standard TWAIN interface to scan a true color picture. In order to adjust the overall contrast distortion, select “Image / Adjust / Color Scale†in sequence. In the pop-up window, adjust the position of the two small triangles on the left and right, and pass the preview View the adjusted effect in the window until you are satisfied. Usually, the two small triangles are moved to the middle, so that after scanning different pictures multiple times and adjusting repeatedly, we can "quantize" the overall contrast distortion of the scanner image, that is, determine the movement of the left and right small triangles Direction and magnitude. If the image is discolored, you can select "Image / Adjust / Change" in sequence, and select the rendering closest to the original picture in the pop-up window. Similarly, after many experiments, the degree of color cast of the scanner is also known.
The next step is to remove the dots, and execute "filter / noise / speckle removal". How about, the image is much clearer! The last procedure is to make up for the error in the scanner's focal length, execute "Filter / Sharpening / USM Sharpening", carefully adjust the parameters in the window, and pay attention not to adjust the Radius value too much, which can make the image More clearly. After many experiments, the focal length error of the scanner is well known.
After the above processing, you will find that the image is more realistic and finer! If you find it troublesome in this way, you can use the "Action" function in Photoshop to make the above steps into an "action". The next time you need to process, just execute this "action" and you can do it in one go. !
