Germany launches new materials for antimicrobial plastic packaging

Food packaging safety is a globally important topic. As we all know, in packaged foods, bacteria multiply at the point of contact between food and packaging. In order to prevent this from happening, recently German scientists have used medical expertise to develop an antimicrobial plastic food packaging material to prevent the proliferation of these uninvited guests. This packaging uses the latest surface coating technology to apply a layer of antiseptic and antibacterial material on the plastic packaging film to replace the preservatives added in the food and further improve the food packaging safety. This kind of coating can be achieved by using composite resins and other substances as base materials and special technologies. Allegedly, this new technology is an important change in food packaging. It can prevent food mildew from occurring without the use of food preservatives.
