KBA Introduces Corrugraph, a Sheetfed Flexo Press

From April 20th to 22nd, at the "Acropolis Convention Center" in Nice, the "13th Technical Seminar of FEFCO of European Association of Corrugated Cardboard Manufacturers" was held. For the first time, Koenig & Bauer AG (KBA) introduced KBA Corrugaph, a press for high-quality flexographic printing on corrugated board, to more members of the industry.

High-quality packaging with a thickness of 10 mm Printing The market for packaging printing on solid cardboard and corrugated board has continued to grow with the increasing demand for packaging printing for many years. It seems that there is no end to the demand for high-quality product packaging with sophisticated finishing. KBA has established a strong market position in the field of sheetfed offset printing with its Rapida series of offset presses. This model extends the range of substrates to large format solid cardboard with a thickness of 1.6 mm and E-type slot corrugated cardboard. New sheet-fed flexo presses – KBA Corrugraph's range of processing starts with E-groove corrugated board for offset-printed substrates, up to A, B, C slot corrugated board and other extra-large corrugated cardboard.

Two presses have been used in actual production. KBA Corrugraph sheetfed offset presses, manufactured by KBA North America in York, Pa., are based on a modular, shaftless drive and are equipped with a dedicated AC drive. It is 1676×3000 mm. The machine can print full-color directly on corrugated cardboard with a thickness of 10mm, and can perform on-line coating and die cutting with a production capacity of 10,000 sheets/hour. Two such printers are already in use in the North American market (Central Graphics & Container Group, Inc., Mississauga, Ontario, and York Container, near the KBA manufacturing facility in Pennsylvania). The second model of the KBA Corrugraph sheet press is being manufactured. The machine is mainly customized for the European market and the width of the substrate is 2.3 meters.

Highlights of the new KBA Corrugraph presses are vacuum guides throughout the machine, quick job changes, automatic presetting of printing and die cutting parameters, and data entry for the job, operation of the press Humanized touch screen control device equipped with monitoring of production data.
