Unique performance of starch-based biodegradable films

Under the support of the Chinese Academy of Sciences’ Knowledge Innovation Project and the Jilin Provincial Governor Fund, Changchun University of Science and Technology of China’s Academy of Sciences has made great progress in the research and development of starch-based fully biodegradable plastics and obtained a number of technological achievements with independent intellectual property rights. .

It is understood that the Changchun Institute of Chemical Technology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences has laid a solid foundation for technological transformation through scale-up tests and small-batch production demonstrations. Currently, the main products developed are starch-based foaming materials and starch-based biodegradable films.

Starch-based foaming materials are prepared by specific processes using more than 85% of starch supplemented with other biodegradable substances. The starch-based biodegradable film is made of a unique ternary plasticizing system with a starch content of more than 60%, good mechanical properties, breaking strength of 12 to 30 MPa, and elongation at break of up to 50% to 250%. PE film is equivalent, and the printing performance is excellent, no need to deal with before printing, apply to shopping bags, garbage bags, debris bags and so on.
