Eastman Chemical develops nanocomposite nylon Imperm

Nelson of Eastman Chemical developed a nanocomposite nylon Imperm that improves PET bottle barrier properties. The uniformly dispersed clay body can prevent oxygen from penetrating into the bottle. The strength, rigidity and stability of the bottle are all good. Nano-composite PET bottles have 3 to 4 times more oxygen barrier than single-layer PET bottles. The new composite PET bottles not only increase the shelf life of packaging products, but also reduce the amount of nylon used in multilayer barrier bottles. According to reports, the color of PET bottles containing 10% clay is not affected.
