Abstract: A thermal printer has a thermal head that can be mounted directly on a carriage without any other parts intervening. Its elastic member can push the carriage so that the thermal head presses against the platen. One end of the elastic member is fixed on the sliding seat, and the other end slides on the reed support seat and its chamfered portion. The carriage drive shaft for driving the carriage and the cylinder drive shaft for driving the paper feed roller are associated with each other by a torque transmission mechanism and are driven by a single stepping motor.
