European PET Bottle Recycling Rate Increases Rapidly

The European PET recycling organization found that PET collected in Europe last year reached 1.13 million tons. Among them, the number of PET used for fiber regeneration increased, but the market share fell from 52% to 47%; the market share of PET for plates increased to 24%; the share of PET used for blow molding also continued to increase to nearly 18% for The number of bundles also increased by 32% year-on-year. According to overseas media reports, in 2007, 40% of PET (polyethylene terephthalate) bottles on the European market were collected and recycled, an increase of 20% from 2006.

Industry sources estimate that this year's European machine recycling PET capacity is estimated at 1.2 million tons. The European Packaging and Packaging Waste Act requires that most member states should recycle at least 22.5% of their plastic packaging this year, and increase household plastic recycling or reuse to 50% by 2020.
