KSW, Germany develops scalable semi-active RFID temperature sensor tag VarioSens Basico KSW, a semi-active (paper thin battery) RFID smart tag sensor manufacturer, has released a new pasteable integration Temperature sensor RFID smart tag - Vario Sens Basic. The platform is based on the temperature sensor label TempSens developed by KSW in 2003 and provides scalable temperature data storage and data security.
The Vario Sens tag measures 720 temperature data, while the previous generation Temp Sens tag only reads 64 temperature data.
Users of Vario Sens temperature tags can adjust the type of temperature data stored in the tag memory. For example, they can store only preset values or allocate 1K bytes of space to store temperature data and other supply chain data. The Vario Sens temperature tag also provides more sophisticated data protection mechanisms with a total of three levels of protection. IT managers can design who can read the tag data, who can read and write at the same time, who can change, and so on. Other upgradeable features include: The temperature tag can retrieve data from an external sensor and measure the remaining power of the battery inside the tag.
The communication protocol of the Vario Sens temperature tag follows the ISO 15693-3 air interface protocol and operates in the HF 13.56 MHz band. A total of 8K bits of readable and writable EEPROM memory are available. Using 1.5V battery, the use time is about 1.5 years.
The main application areas of the products are chemical monitoring in the chemical industry, drug transportation in the medical industry, and perishable foods.
