Beautiful PET Bottle Helps White Rock Reduce Vodka Costs

White Rock Distilleries recently introduced the 1.75-litre Pinnacle brand vodka in a clear blue PET bottle. This bottle was produced by Amcor PET Packaging. Not only greatly reduces the cost, but also maintains the unique image of Pinnacle. The 1.75-liter glass bottle introduced by Pinnacle was originally imported from Italy. The bottles were shipped to a factory in Montreal where they were coated with a powder coating to achieve a distinctive transparent blue effect. Then it was sent to the United States for filling.

Joe Werda, director of operations for White Rock Distilleries, said, “The long supply chain keeps the number of broken bottles high. These glass bottles purchased from Europe and their decorative packaging are also very expensive. We think we can find one. High-quality PET bottles can effectively display our brand and can also significantly reduce costs."

When considering replacing with PET, White Rock has always managed to ensure that the image of the brand is not affected by any form.

Joe Werda said: “We chose Amcor mainly to look at their design capabilities and feel that they can design unique bottles. We gave them a design proposal and we knew that glass bottles are difficult to replicate with plastic. Our goal is to They were able to design a bottle that was close enough in appearance to the glass bottle, but the material was PET."

This bottle has several unique design elements. It tapers from the shoulder to the bottom and has a supporting base at the bottom, which is higher than the other commercial 1.75 litre PET bottles. At the same time, design and manufacturing parameters have also been adjusted to achieve the desired geometric effect.

The company also has special requirements for color. Finally, the color of the bottle is slightly different from that of the previous glass bottle, adding a little blue tint.

Werda said: "Getting the right color is another challenge. After many attempts, Amcor made a blue bottle. We are very satisfied with this color and even consider our 750ml and 1l bottles. (Currently still glass) Use this color too, in order to be consistent with the PET bottle."

This change is also the company can provide a more competitive retail price system, because packaging will greatly reduce the cost.

Bill Dabbelt, vice president of sales for White Rock Distilleries, said: “We are very satisfied with the bottles and their appearance and texture. They look very good quality. Many consumers did not realize that they were made of PET until they knew it firsthand. Touch it.” Fred Piercy, head of alcohol business at Amcor, said: “The new PET bottles at White Rock demonstrate Amcor’s ability to provide high-value product solutions. It not only saves supply chain costs, but also Colors and patterns have greatly enhanced the brand image."
